The Patient Support Nurse will provide support for Parkinson’s patients and caregivers over the phone, by understanding and being able to speak to the end-to-end journey for patients and care partners in the context of Parkinson’s Disease and the company-specific program.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of content for callers, including patients, their care partners, and/or their HCP/office staff to provide approved information and education on Parkinson's disease (PD), disease progression, general PD resources, and Client specific resources. This role is NOT to provide medical advice.
  • Provide information about the client’s PD treatment option (which is delivered subcutaneously via a nonsurgical pump) and deliver basic device troubleshooting support via approved scripting.
  • When appropriate, facilitate a warm transfer to key program stakeholders (e.g. Specialty Pharmacy or Medical Information) to support inquiries outside of the role’s remit.
  • Utilize Mercalis’ leadership competencies as the driving force behind the team’s succes.
  • On time adherence to training deadlines for all corporate policies and procedures governing access to confidential data
  • Ensure all SOPs are followed with consistency
  • Conduct miscellaneous tasks or projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in inpatient or outpatient settings
  • Experience working with Parkinson's Disease patients, neurodegenerative disorders, movement disorders, or similar areas of focus is a necessity
  • Experience working with medical devices and/or pumps is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patient empathy and understanding are of utmost importance in this role
  • Ability to educate while remaining emotionally supportive
  • Maintain the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Experience in the use of motivational interviewing techniques a plus.
